Projects for Columbia Pacific

From an historic standpoint, Columbia Pacific RC&EDD has been insturmental in flood control projects on both the Wynoochee and Satsop Rivers. The organization also participated in beach erosion control projects at Westport and Ocean Shores. Crews employed by Columbia Pacific have done fish barrier analys on many salmon bearing streams in Grays Harbor County and completed many fish habitat restoration projects in partnership with Federal and State agencies.

The construction of the Friends Landing recreation area on the Chehalis River provided a fishing area that is totally accessible to individuals with special needs. This recreation area was built in cooperation with the Trout Unlimited Chapter in Aberdeen, Wa. The site is also equipped with a boat launch, restrooms, and picnicing and camping sites on the river's edge.

Columbia-Pacific has been instrumental in funding studies to create new sources of income to residents of the four-county area. These studies included the feasibility of converting cedar sawmill wastes into viable products, the raising of hybrid cottonwoods for bio-remediation and fiber production, and the feasibility of organizating a cooperative venture for harvesters of secondary forest products, including salal and sword ferns.

Current Projects

Currently, we are studying the feasibility of providing incubation services electronically to small start-up businesses. For this study, we are using interns from Greys Harbor College.
